"To Plato's mind, to parade one's immorality is to add a second immorality to the first: to scandalize and possibly corrupt the weak...What is so striking about the world we are living in is not so much the degree of its immorality as the brazenness with which immoral deeds are paraded. This is symptomatic of every decadent society." (Alice von Hildebrand, "Plato and the Homosexual" in Homiletics and Pastoral Review, Dec. 1981 p. 23)
There is now a fashionable trend transforming into an event called: "search for miss gay". What complicates this matter is that usually it is being held during town fiesta celebration of parishes, which is a Catholic religious celebration. This gives the impression that the Catholic Church approves of homosexuality. Tragic is the fact that those in-charge of this event are themselves so-called pious Catholics.
However, it's very clear that the Catholic Church does not approve of homosexuality. Lest I be misunderstood, let us first draw the line. Distinction must be made between the person and the action. The homosexual person must be treated with respect, his dignity and rights be protected. However, his homosexual acts are by no means tolerated.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) in its Letter to Bishops of the Catholic Church entitled The Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons (L'Osservatore Romano, 10 November 1986) whose Prefect then was Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger now our present Pope Benedict XVI; took note of "the distinction commonly drawn between the homosexual condition or tendency and individual homosexual actions. These were described as deprived of their essential and indispensable finality, as being "intrinsically disordered", and able in no case to be approved of... Although the particular inclination of the homosexual person is not a sin, it is a more or less strong tendency ordered towards an intrinsic moral evil; and thus the inclination itself must be seen as an objective disorder. Therefore special concern and pastoral attention should be directed towards those who have this condition, lest they be led to believe that the living out of this orientation in homosexual activity is a morally acceptable option. It is not."
As such: "All support should be withdrawn from any organizations which seek to undermine the teachings of the Church, which are ambiguous about it, or even neglect it entirely."
Hence, when Catholic parishes during town fiesta celebration permits the holding of so-called "search for miss gay", the priests and faithful seem to contradict this Letter of the CDF. When we support this activity we are forgetting the teaching of the Church which is based on the Bible (Gen 19:1-11, Lev. 18:22 & 20:13, Rom 1:24-27, 1Cor 6:9) and the parish commits a "communitarian sin". I wonder why parish priests permits such event to be held during town fiestas. Remember the Santa Cruzan of homosexuals? What an insult to our Catholic Faith. Padre, let us put an end to it!!!
