Everybody are praying for the peaceful and successful election this coming May 13 midterm elections.

Among the busy and occupied agencies in terms of work assignments are the Comelec, PNP, Philippine Army and other lined agencies of government.

Under the present constitution, the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police were given the special mandate in order to truly serve as the protector of the Filipino people, however, most of the time, this agencies of government are used by those greed in power as an armament of their votes.

Now, in Catanduanes, are we expecting a different election scenario this time or the same old songs, where these presumed defender of the people designed as the refuge of those politicians, serving as goons and guns in order to harass and threaten their rival candidates?

As we nearing towards the big day scheduled on March 13, we are challenging an independent PNP and Philippine Army to display and stand firm on their command in order to uphold the peace and order situation contrary to their customary roles. They should not take side, but instead of portray as a guiding light of our voters.

In spite of the old echoes, we are still in the affirmative note, that this time they will exercise their true mandate against the contrary. They should not beholden to our public figures especially in times of election, but rather, assert as a countervailing shield of our countrymen.

Calling our voters to assert our rights. Let us used this election as a refuge against those greed in power, against those abusive in power, against those elected officials who are using their power for personal gains.

Remember, being in the public office is a personal sacrifice in order to serve your countrymen, not for personal service, not for the revenge against your enemies, but serve as a unifying factor for the advantage of your constituents.
