VIRAC, CATANDUANES – To further enhance youth participation in crime prevention, the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5), led by PBGEN Andre P. Dizon, Regional Director, and the Catanduanes Police Provincial Office (Catanduanes PPO), led by PCOL Edward D. Quijano, Provincial Director, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

The agreement includes the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Liga ng mga Barangay (LNB), and Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT). The MOA was formally signed today at the Provincial Capitol Dome, Brgy. Francia, Virac, Catanduanes, coinciding with the launch of the program “Kabataan Kontra Kriminalidad (KKK): Kabataan on the Move.”

Attended by 198 youth from various sectors, including KKDAT members, Muslim youth, students, and out-of-school youth, the initiative aims to encourage young people to be active participants in combating illegal drugs, terrorism, and other crimes.

According to PBGEN Dizon, the youth play a vital role in building a safer and more prosperous community. “Through programs like these, we can provide young people with the knowledge and skills to become exemplary citizens who help maintain peace and order,” he said.

Under “Kabataan on the Move,” local chapters will be established and strengthened in barangays and schools to encourage more youth to participate in crime prevention. Leadership training, volunteerism workshops, and outreach programs will also be conducted to develop their capabilities as advocates of peace and security in their communities.

Through the collaborative efforts of PRO 5 and various agencies, the program proponents hope to make the fight against crime in Catanduanes more effective, while shaping the youth as valuable partners in maintaining social order.
