Provincial Tourism Officer Carmel Garcia confirmed on her personal Facebook account that an international cruise ship is set to dock in the province of Catanduanes.

It is expected that around 120 Australian nationals will explore the province, brought by Coral Expedition – a pioneering Australian cruise line. Among the planned destinations for the tourists are the beautiful beaches of Virac and Palumbanes Island in the town of Caramoran, which has already gained recognition in their knowledge.

In relation to this, they have reportedly conducted a coordination meeting with Travel People Ltd, Inc., Wallem Philippines port agency, DOT V, Philippine Ports Authority, and the Philippine Coast Guard to prepare for the said docking.

According to Garcia, she had personally discussed the planned visit with Jen Ferrer of Travel People as early as 2019. However, due to the pandemic, the plan was postponed, and it was supposed to take place in Catanduanes in October 2021.

She called on stakeholders to cooperate in preparing the tourist spots that the visiting tourists may visit.

Through this, the province aims to showcase the beauty of Catanduanes to people from Australia, and there is a possibility of repeating such visits to the island.
