Virac, Catanduanes—The Catanduanes State University (CatSU) community extended heartfelt gratitude to Atty. Septon A. de la Cruz for his outstanding leadership and dedication as University President. As he transitions to his new role as CHED Regional Director of the Cordillera Administrative Region, CatSU reflected on his significant contributions to the institution’s growth and development.

“It feels so fleeting to have been guided by a leader as competent, approachable, and kind as you, Atty. Septon A. de la Cruz! Thank you for serving the people of Catanduanes and for steering CatSU on its progressive journey,” the University’s official statement read.

The CatSU community also expressed its best wishes for Atty. Septon in this new chapter of his career. “May you always carry with you the gratitude and well wishes of the CatSU community in your next journey. Godspeed, Atty. Septon!”

Meanwhile, CatSU announced the appointment of Dr. Roberto B. Barba, Jr. as the new Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Office of the University President.

Dr. Barba, a distinguished academic leader, is a former Dean of the College of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF). He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Crop Science from CatSU and ranked 4th in the Board Exam. He was a DOST PCAARRD GREAT Scholar for his PhD in Plant Breeding at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and a DOST ASTHRDP Scholar for his MS in Plant Breeding, also at UPLB.

Despite his numerous accolades, Dr. Barba is recognized for his dedication and compassion in serving the institution. “The University’s steadfast support is with you as you take on this new role—one that may feel familiar, given your tenure as Executive Vice President, the second-highest post in the University’s leadership. We look forward to your continued guidance in steering CatSU toward greater achievements,” the statement added.

The CatSU community warmly welcomes Dr. Barba’s leadership as OIC President and looks forward to the milestones that will be achieved under his guidance. (Bicol Peryodiko NewsTeam)
