Virac, Catanduanes —Liberty Commercial Center (LCC) Supermarket formally opened its first branch in Virac on Friday, December 5, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the province’s retail and economic landscape. The new store, which becomes LCC’s 86th branch across the Bicol Region and Quezon Province, offers a wide variety of products ranging from daily essentials and international goods to exclusive LCC brands and a newly introduced Korean House section.
The grand opening ceremonies began with a blessing officiated by Most Rev. Fr. Luisito A. Occiano, D.D., Rev. Fr. Eric Rojas, and Rev. Fr. Leonell Magtangob. Governor Patrick Alain T. Azanza and Virac Mayor Posoy Sarmiento’s representative led the local government delegation in welcoming the establishment. The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was attended by key LCC executives including VP for Merchandising/MPC Anne Marianne Tan-Ong, Deputy COO and Chief Business Officer Christian Tan, Chairman and CEO Antonio Tan, and Corporate Affairs Officer Guada Espinas.
As the first LCC Supermarket in the province, Mr. Antonio Tan underscored the company’s commitment to creating local employment opportunities and supporting homegrown producers. He added that the expansion brings LCC services “closer to the community,” ensuring access to quality and affordable products for Catandunganons.
Governor Azanza likewise hailed the opening as a testament to Catanduanes’ improving business climate. He stressed that the province is now “more open than ever” to investors and noted that LCC’s presence would further strengthen consumer access to essential goods.
In an interview with Radyo Peryodiko, Deputy COO Christian Tan assured residents that LCC is committed to bringing its signature hospitality and value-for-money offerings to the province. “Customers will feel LCC hospitality immediately,” he said. “We offer a wide range of affordable products—from fruits, fish, and meat to buy-one-take-one deals, one-peso chicken, imported items, and various promotions. Catandunganons will truly feel our care.”
Tan also confirmed that LCC is exploring the possibility of establishing branches in other municipalities to serve residents in remote areas more conveniently. “This is part of our contribution to the people of Catanduanes,” he added.
The inaugural opening drew an overwhelming crowd, with residents flocking to the new supermarket throughout the day. Observers described the turnout as “almost impossible to move,” noting long queues that extended until 8:00 p.m. as shoppers eagerly explored the island’s newest commercial hub.
Marketing Officer Jason Opeña further shared that the company intends to partner with local farmers and fisherfolk to source fruits, vegetables, and seafood directly from the province. This initiative aims to support local livelihood and integrate Catanduanes producers into LCC’s supply chain. Customers and listeners of Radyo Peryodiko also expressed appreciation for the promotional umbrellas distributed during the launch.
