CatSU Leaders Beam with Pride as First-Time English Major LPT Topnotcher Kym Terrago Receives Warm Welcome
Virac, Catanduanes — Pride, gratitude, and heartfelt emotion filled the halls of Catanduanes State University as President Dr. Gemma G. Acedo and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Kristian Aldea warmly welcomed Kym Terrago, the university’s newly minted LET topnotcher in Secondary English, during her courtesy visit.
The meeting, marked by smiles and celebration, took on deeper meaning when President Acedo announced a reciprocal gesture of support—the offer of employment beginning this January at the CatSU Laboratory High School. The unexpected announcement came as a complete surprise to Terrago, who ranked Top 4 in the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers, leaving her visibly overwhelmed and moved.
Accepting the offer with humility, Terrago gave thanks to God for what she described as an outpouring of blessings beyond her expectations. President Acedo, meanwhile, reminded the young educator to stay grounded, honor the sacrifices of her parents, and use her success to serve others. “All glory belongs to God,” the President emphasized, encouraging Terrago to remain rooted in faith and gratitude as she begins her professional journey.
Adding to the celebration, President Acedo also announced that the university is granting a ₱20,000 incentive to CatSU LET topnotchers in recognition of their outstanding achievement. In a touching moment, Terrago shared that she intended to allocate part of the amount to purchase sunglasses for her mother, a cancer survivor, as a small but meaningful gift of love and thanksgiving.
Moved by the gesture, President Acedo quipped that she herself would take care of the glasses, ensuring that Terrago would be able to take home the full ₱20,000 incentive. The light-hearted yet deeply generous remark brought smiles—and tears—to those present, as Terrago became emotional over the kindness shown by the university leadership.
The moment revealed not only academic excellence but also the humanity, compassion, and family-centered values that CatSU continues to uphold. Terrago’s journey—from student to board topnotcher and now young educator—stands as a powerful proof to faith, perseverance, and the transformative support of a university that truly celebrates its own. | via Ferdz Brizo | BicolRadyoPeryodikoTV
