Legazpi City – Catanduanes once again showcased its excellence in implementing health programs after sweeping major awards at the recently concluded 14th Salud Bikolnon Awards of the Department of Health (DOH) Bicol Center for Health Development. The province, along with its offices and nine (9) local government units (LGUs), was recognized for its strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of island residents.

Major Provincial-Level Awards

  • Magayagaya Award (Provincial/ICC Level): The highest honor was conferred on the Province of Catanduanes.
  • PULSE Award (Pursuing Unparalleled Laboratory Standards and Excellence): Awarded to the Catanduanes Provincial Health Laboratory Network.
  • Best Implementation of the Lifestyle-Related Diseases and Risk Factors Prevention and Control Program (Provincial Level): Awarded to the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Catanduanes.
  • Top Performing National Eye Health Program Implementation (Provincial Level): Recognized the PHO of Catanduanes, together with the PHO of Sorsogon.
  • Best School-Based Immunization Implementer (Provincial Level): Awarded to the Schools Division Office of Catanduanes, in partnership with the Provincial Health Office.
  • Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health Institutionalization Award (Provincial Level): Conferred on Catanduanes for its strengthened health-related disaster risk management initiatives.

  • Sinag Award (Blood Service Facility): Philippine Red Cross – Catanduanes Chapter.
  • Sinag Award (Dental Laboratory): B.T. Recidoro Dental Clinic and Laboratory.
  • Best Implementation of Cervical Cancer Screening Services (Municipal/City Level – MHO/CHO): Municipal Health Office of San Miguel, Catanduanes.
  • Best Institutionalized Mental Health and Drug-Free Workplace with Wellness Program Services for Employees (Municipal/City Level): Virac, Catanduanes.
  • Best Implementation of the Lifestyle-Related Diseases and Risk Factors Prevention and Control Program (Municipal/City Level): Virac, Catanduanes.
  • Best School-Based Immunization Implementer (Municipal/City Level): Municipal Health Office of Panganiban.

Nine (9) municipalities in Catanduanes were also honored for outstanding performance in heart health promotion and disaster preparedness:

  • Special Award: Heart Health Champion – MMM25 Campaign (LGU Level): Baras, Panganiban, Bagamanoc, and Bato for their initiatives in improving cardiovascular health.
  • Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health Institutionalization Award (Municipal Level): Pandan, San Miguel, Bato, Gigmoto, Panganiban, Virac, Bagamanoc, and Viga.
  • Municipal-Wide Certified Zero Open Defecation (Municipal Level): Achieved by Panganiban, marking a significant public health milestone.
