The Catanduanes State University (CSU) hits the global scale. Dr. Minerva I. Morales, CSU President, is one of the other nine select university Presidents in the Philippines who was chosen to represent the country in the Annual Conference and Exhibition at World Trade Convention Center at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on November 19 – 22, 2017. The activity is under the auspices of the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE).
Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), informed Dr. Morales of the university’s participation along with other CHED officials in the country. Licuanan said that the CBIE’s annual conference is the Canadian meeting place for international educators and stakeholders from across Canada and around the world. This year’s theme, “Pathways in International Education: Charting the Course,” looks at the mechanisms that enable collaboration and opportunities in international education.
“This is an opportune time,” Licuanan added, “to showcase (the) university to attract Canadian students, build new contracts and networks, break into a new market, get the most recent intelligence, trends and developments in international education, develop new partnerships and meet decision makers face to face.”
In her part, Dr. Morales looked forward in discussing with foreign educator counterparts for potential partnership agreements that would bring new innovative measures for the CSU. “We are banking at the particular niche of CSU as a green university especially with its Center for Climate Change in the Pacific Islands Project,” Dr. Morales said, “ and that of Catanduanes as an abaca producing province, in engaging more with research platforms on bio-diversity, climate change, emerging instructional and industrial technologies, agriculture, and public sector governance.”
At present, the Catanduanes State University enjoys the distinction as the only Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Catanduanes with an ISO certification, issued by TUV Rheinland, Germany and consistently shares the limelight as producer of national board topnotchers. (bsv/ csu-prmcs office)
