It’s time for stakeholders to discuss how Catanduanes delegates can improve their standing in the Palarong Bicol.
Catanduanes has long been known to lag behind in every Bicol Meet, contrary to the previous years when it was often praised by sports officials in the region for its outstanding performance.
One strategy employed by DepEd in other areas is close coordination with local government units to ensure that they have a strong delegation. However, it’s common for our leaders to merely contribute uniforms, assistance, or other minor forms of aid that don’t serve as morale boosters for the players.
During sports events, they might show up and provide assistance ang picture taking but often, there is no initiative for them to suggest actions that could strengthen the capabilities of the athletes.
It would be beneficial if they themselves lobbied with DepEd to offer assistance because their names are at stake in case of poor performance, and they also receive significant credit if our representatives become champions.
The sports event in our beautiful island has come a long way, so a proactive strategy is needed instead of a reactive one. This involves leaders actively helping and discussing strategies long before the competition and not is just a few days away before the event.
On the other hand, DepEd sports officials should intensify their burning desire to submit proposals to target the number one spot in the games, rather than consistently being at the tail end.
