Manila — Governor-elect Dr. Patrick Alain Azanza has secured strong backing from several senators for his reform programs in the province of Catanduanes, following his recent visit to the Senate. His agenda focuses on key areas including health, education, infrastructure, and disaster preparedness.
Dr. Azanza first met with Senate President Chiz Escudero to formally request the upgrading of the Eastern Bicol Medical Center (EBMC) into a tertiary hospital. This move is part of his broader plan to establish a College of Medicine at Catanduanes State University. Senate President Escudero expressed full support for the proposal.
Azanza also held meetings with Senators Joel Villanueva, JV Ejercito, Loren Legarda, Migz Zubiri, Win Gatchalian, Bong Go, Risa Hontiveros, and Pia Cayetano. All senators expressed their commitment and pledged support for the programs that will benefit Catanduanes.
Senator Bong Go committed ₱250 million for the rehabilitation of EBMC, including the purchase of MRI and CT scan machines. Senator Loren Legarda voiced support for scholarship programs and environmental initiatives, while Senator Zubiri pledged assistance in agricultural development and food security.
Azanza extended his gratitude to the senators, many of whom he had previously worked with during his time as a student leader and university president.
“Everything I do is for the welfare of every Catandunganon. I carry with me the voice of the entire island,” Azanza said. (Bicol Peryodiko NewsTeam)
