VIRAC, CATANDUANES — The Provincial Government of Catanduanes proudly announced a remarkable performance in its tourism sector, recording a total of 60,003 tourist arrivals in the second quarter of 2025. This figure marks a significant 28.80% increase compared to the 46,586 visitors during the same period last year, affirming the province’s growing popularity as a premier travel destination.

The surge in arrivals was largely driven by domestic travelers, with 56,930 Filipino tourists exploring the province’s unique attractions. Catanduanes also welcomed 3,073 foreign visitors, reflecting strong international interest in the island known as the “Happy Island.”

The influx of tourists generated a total of ₱86,022,626 in tourism receipts for the quarter:

  • ₱68,316,000 from domestic tourism
  • ₱17,706,626 from foreign tourism These earnings significantly boosted the local economy and stimulated growth across various sectors.

Tourism also served as a major driver of employment, creating 73,204 tourism-related jobs for local communities. The province recorded a high volume of day trips, with 257,687 same-day visitors (256,873 domestic and 814 foreign), reinforcing Catanduanes’ reputation as a favorite destination for short getaways.

These positive figures were the result of diligent data collection by Municipal Tourism Offices and accommodation establishments across the province.
