VIRAC, CATANDUANES – The legal team of former Vice Governor Peter C. Cua is currently reviewing possible next steps after receiving the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) decision dismissing his election protest against Catanduanes Governor Patrick Alain T. Azanza.
In an official statement, Cua said that while he is disappointed with the ruling of the COMELEC First Division, he accepts it with respect and remains firm in seeking the truth through proper legal processes.
According to Cua, his lawyers are now examining all possible legal remedies. He expressed confidence that “in due time, everything will become clear” and that institutions will act with integrity, adherence to the law, and consideration for the public good.
Cua also thanked his supporters, acknowledging their sacrifices and unwavering commitment. He urged everyone to remain calm and respectful despite differing views, noting that the electoral issue has already caused deep wounds in the community.
The former vice governor assured the public that his family will continue serving and helping the people of Catanduanes regardless of political challenges. “This is where I was shaped, this is where I served, and this is where I will remain,” he said.
Cua’s legal team is expected to clarify in the coming days whether they will file a motion for reconsideration or elevate the matter to a higher body. — via FG PCua | Bicol Radyo / Peryodiko
