LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — The 56th Commencement Exercises of the Bicol University officially began on June 15 with the first batch of graduates from the BU West Campus marching at the Albay Sports Complex, carrying this year’s theme: “Values-Driven Workforce, Digitally Inclined Lifelong Learners.”

The opening ceremony marked a significant milestone for hundreds of graduates as they completed their academic journey in one of the region’s leading state universities.

Meanwhile, graduates from the BU East Campus and Daraga Campus are scheduled to hold their commencement exercises on June 16, continuing the university’s annual celebration of academic achievement across its campuses.

Serving as guest speaker was former Philippine Vice President and incumbent Mayor of Naga City, Hon. Maria Leonor “Leni” Gerona Robredo, who delivered an inspiring message centered on integrity, public service, and resilience in pursuing meaningful careers and nation-building.

Robredo shared personal insights and motivational stories, encouraging graduates to remain grounded in values while adapting to the demands of an increasingly digital and global workforce.

University officials highlighted that this year’s theme underscores the importance of forming graduates who are not only skilled and digitally adept but also guided by strong ethical and social values.

The ceremony was documented by BU’s PR Staff and photojournalists, capturing key moments of the historic event as another batch of students transitioned from academic life to professional endeavors. | Francis Benedict | Bicol Peryodiko Integrated News
