The twin simulation exercises conducted the other week at the Eastern Bicol Medical Center (EBMC)- one for land and water, the other for air and land..bore fruit. Although, not perfect, these simulation exercises was considered one of the best planned executed and simulation exercises in the Region V according to DOH Provincial Head, Dr. Robert John Aquino.
Conducted in preparation for the arrival of the corona vaccine made by Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinovac which has issued an Emergency Use authorization (EUA), another vaccine appropriate for senior citizens specially was made available-astrazeneca.
A consolidated plan after these exercise were conducted paved the way for the health frontliners led by Dr. Aquino and Provincial Health office Chief Dr. Hazel Palmes; Dr. Greg Macero and Hospital Chief Dr. Vietrez Abella of EBMC to name some.
Blessing in disguise, the two vaccines arrived at a time when there’s a spike of covid-19 positive cases in Bato, San Andres, Viga, Virac and Pandan especially wherein two engineers employed at Pandan Municipal engineering office succumbed to it successively on March 9 and 10, respectively.
These ceremonial vaccination conducted at EBMC have been followed by vaccine rollouts at Juan M. Alberto Hospital (JMA), Immaculate Health of Mary hospital and Catanduanes Doctors Hospital, Inc. (CDHI).
However, due to change of aerial mode of transport, vaccines intended for Pandan District Hospital (PDH), the only northern hospital included in this historic vaccination jab for health frontliners, must have been transferred by land.
May this ceremonial vaccination at EBMC serve as a morale booster, persuasive runs to encourage those with lukewarm acceptance and doubts to let themselves be vaccinated for good measures.
