Virac, Catanduanes – A farmer’s body was found in disarray after being attacked by his own carabao on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at around 10:30 in the morning in the town of Virac. The victim was identified as Henry Tablate Cielo, 65 years old, a resident of Barangay Calatagan, Tibang, Virac, Cataduanes.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred when the victim was attempting to fix the carabao’s harness or plow, which had broken while he was bringing down bamboo from the mountains. For unknown reasons, the carabao went berserk, attacking the victim and dragging him for up to 10 meters, ultimately leading to his demise.
The victim sustained injuries all over his body and was rushed to the hospital but was declared Dead On Arrival.
At present, the victim’s body has been brought home to his family, while the carabao is under their custody. The Virac PNP has also coordinated with the Municipal Agriculture Office in the town for the appropriate disposition. (Virac MPS CatPPO)
