VIRAC, Catanduanes — Governor Patrick Alain T. Azanza announced that the provincial government is now intensifying efforts to address the long-standing water supply problem in Catanduanes after reportedly resolving the island’s power supply concerns.

In a Facebook post, Azanza said the provincial government is currently coordinating with Hanabana Water Corporation to bring to Catanduanes the technology being used by the company in Camarines Norte and other provinces for water filtration and water supply systems.

According to the governor, he recently met with Ramonito Sagocsoc to discuss the possible implementation of the proposed project in the province.

Azanza explained that under the proposal, the company would establish a water filtration system facility without any cost to the Provincial Government of Catanduanes. He added that the private firm would not compete with existing water districts in the province, but instead aims to support them by serving as a supplier of clean and affordable water.

“This is a win-win solution because consumers will be the real beneficiaries,” Azanza said.

The governor also stated that the provincial government plans to invite Hanabana Water Corporation to formally present its proposed solution to Catanduanes’ water supply problem.

Azanza further emphasized that the island’s long-standing water crisis does not require a complicated solution, but rather dedicated leadership and genuine concern for the welfare of the people.

He added that the province needs “public servants who truly work for the progress of the Catandunganons” instead of pursuing personal interests.
