Former Congressman Cesar Sarmiento has called on the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to take action and summon gas station owners in the province to explain the significant price discrepancy of fuel sold in Catanduanes compared to neighboring provinces such as Albay and Sorsogon.

Sarmiento expressed his belief that gas station owners are likely waiting for the opportunity to clarify why fuel prices are higher on the island. He emphasized that inviting them to the SP would give local residents a better understanding of the mechanisms behind fuel pricing in Catanduanes.

“I am confident that they would be open to attending the invitation of the SP so that the public can understand the factors that contribute to the elevated fuel prices here on the island,” Sarmiento said.

He further challenged members of the Provincial Board (PBMs) to take the initiative by passing a resolution on this pressing issue, which has long been a concern for island residents. (BP NewsTeam)
