Baras, Catanduanes – Only the local government of Baras in the province of Catanduanes has achieved the prestigious Seal of Local Governance 2023.

The Local Government Unit of Baras received the recognition from the Department of Interior and Local Government. This is the Seal of Good Local Governance 2023 awarded during the National Awarding Ceremony held on December 13, 2023, at the Manila Hotel.

The award was personally handed over by DILG Secretary Ben Abalos. What is the seal of local governance act?

The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is an award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program for all local government units (LGUs) and is a continuing commitment for LGUs to continually progress and improve performance in upholding the practice of transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.

Under the leadership of Mayor Paolo Teves, the LGU received the award along with a 1.8 million cash incentive. Mayor Teves expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, particularly to the department heads and employees of Baras who contributed to achieving the award.

He sees this as an inspiration to further enhance their town’s compliance with the seal of local governance guidelines each year. This means that their municipality adheres to the mandate they should fulfill for their constituents. (FB/BP news team)
