Virac, Catanduanes – The Catanduanes Police Provincial Office (CatPPO) officially launched the Provincial Election Monitoring Action Center (PEMAC) as part of rigorous preparations for the upcoming National and Local Elections (NLE) 2025. The launch coincided with the commencement of the election period and gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Led by Provincial Director PCOL Edward D. Quijano, the initiative follows the activation of the Regional Election Monitoring Action Center (REMAC) at the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) on January 9, 2025, in Camp BGen Simeon A. Ola, Legazpi City, Albay, under the leadership of Regional Director PBGEN Andre P. Dizon.

PEMAC will serve as a command post to monitor all activities and incidents related to the elections across the province. It operates 24/7 to provide real-time updates, gather information, and promptly respond to any incidents.

“The entire Catanduanes police force is prepared to maintain peace and order in our province. We will ensure the protection of citizens’ rights and uphold the integrity of the elections,” said PCOL Quijano.

Additional measures include deploying police personnel to checkpoints and patrol areas to strictly enforce the gun ban and other regulations. This aims to ensure the safety of residents, especially in remote barangays.

Furthermore, CatPPO continues to coordinate with various government agencies to disseminate crucial information about the elections to the public.

The gun ban is a primary measure to prevent any violence during the election period. The public is reminded that violations may lead to corresponding penalties, including imprisonment.

Through PEMAC, authorities hope for a peaceful and orderly election in Catanduanes, promoting peace and the integrity of the electoral process in the province. (BP Newsteam)
