Panganiban, Catanduanes – A sibling of Dennil Fulton, the victim of the recent PNP shooting, has expressed profound grief and anger over the incident that left their family devastated.
“How could you do this? He’s a human being, not an animal that you can just shoot at!” the sibling said in an emotional statement. They condemned the alleged inhumane treatment of Dennil, who may have been experiencing mental health issues at the time of the incident.
The sibling questioned the PNP’s actions, particularly the absence of an arrest warrant and the immediate use of deadly force. “We could have accepted it if you had just incapacitated him, but there wasn’t even a warrant of arrest. Then, just like that, it was a shot-to-kill!” they lamented.
The family revealed the immense pain they felt upon learning of Dennil’s fate, especially as they were not informed about the incident immediately.
“You didn’t even let the family know. You only told us when his life was already hanging by a thread,” the sibling added, emphasizing that they were denied the chance to save or fight for Dennil’s life.
They also condemned the defamatory remarks circulating about Dennil. “You don’t know the life you’re talking about. It’s deeply painful for us to hear people tarnishing our brother’s name when he didn’t even do anything wrong,” the sibling said, fiercely defending Dennil’s character.
Describing the incident as “brutal,” they called for accountability and justice. “Justice for my brother Dennil,” they pleaded, urging a thorough investigation into the events that led to his death.
The family continues to grieve, seeking explanations and decisive action from authorities. They hope Dennil’s death will not be in vain and that justice will prevail.
This incident underscores the ongoing issues of police abuse of power and the excessive use of force in the Philippines, which remain critical concerns in the country.
Meanwhile, the PNP Catanduanes stated that an investigation into the incident is underway. (Bicol Peryodiko Newsteam)
