The management and staff of Bicol Peryodiko Publishing Services join the Christian Roman Catholics—the clergy, various religious leaders and laymen— in the passing of the Most Rev. Bishop Jose C. Sorra, the first ever  Catandunganon appointed by the Vatican in that exalted position in the 70s.

Heeding the call of God at the age of 91, Bishop Sorra had a fruitful, memorable, and productive religious interactions not only in the province of Catanduanes but in other Dioceses in the Bicol Region where he served in various capacities since his ordination as parish priest in 1956 and promotion in the  hierarchy as auxiliary bishop, bishop, and archbishop until his retirement as Bishop Emeritus recently.

His religious service stint in more or less than three decades had left an indelible imprint, a legacy, old and young generations ought to know and relish with humility and respect in this secular, hard and trying times.

May the prelate’s utmost commitment and dedication, the good interpersonal relations he had with the clergy, and the attendant inspiration it generated in the Diocese of Virac for 19 years and other Dioceses he served  until his retirement, serve as an impetus for young men  who contemplate to enter the priesthood in this hard and trying times.

May his passing serve as well-spring of strength to the clergy hierarchy in the province as they serve the Diocese of Virac with hope and optimism in the new normal era.

For sure, the prelate will always be in the heart and mind of the parishioners who were reached and touched by his benevolent Christian mission. Goodbye and God bless Bishop Ping Sorra, Mamo to the clergy especially.
