Virac, Catanduanes – Catanduanes has achieved a full restoration of electric power across the province exactly one month after Super Typhoon Uwan tore through the island. The First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO) confirmed the accomplishment on December 10, 2025, reporting 100 percent energization in all municipalities, barangays, and eligible household connections.
According to FICELCO, all 315 barangays and 61,330 active household connections have been successfully re-energized as of 7:00 PM, marking a significant milestone in the province’s recovery efforts. Damaged consumer service lines that remain unsafe for reconnection were not included in the count.
Uploaded power restoration updates showed a uniform 100-percent restoration rate in all 11 municipalities, underscoring the efficiency of the post-typhoon rehabilitation campaign.

FICELCO General Manager Francis Gianan credited the rapid recovery to the combined efforts of national and local agencies, electric cooperatives, and community partners. Among those acknowledged were the Department of Energy (DOE), National Electrification Administration (NEA), Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA), Task Force Kapatid teams from Mindanao and the Bicol Region, the Bicol Electric Cooperatives Association (BECA), local government units, media organizations, private individuals, and all FICELCO personnel and member-consumer-owners.
“This victory is for all of us,” FICELCO said, emphasizing that the restoration of electricity brings renewed stability and hope to Catandunganons still recovering from the destruction left by Super Typhoon Uwan.
The full restoration marks a major step forward in the island’s rehabilitation, allowing communities to resume normal activities and rebuild with greater confidence in the province’s resilience. | via Ferdinand M. Brizo | BicolTeleRadyoPeryodiko
